Jute isn’t called the Golden Fibre only for its warm pearlescent sheen. It is cost-effective and its popularity is second only to cotton.
Our jute rugs are handwoven in Rangpur, Bangladesh an area famous for this craft; while only the best jute fibre, known as tossa jute, is handpicked for this endeavour. Although we comb the entire country for tossa jute, a special source comes directly from the banks of the Padma River. The fast-flowing freshwater naturally purifies the jute growing on either side of the Padma, producing the finest golden fibre imaginable.
ECO Crave jute rugs are hand-braided or hand-woven out of hand-twisted rope, with over 200 artisanal families involved in these arts alone, working from their village homes during their spare time. This enables them to earn more without having to detach themselves from their traditional way of life and having a positive impact on their socioeconomic status.
A longing for a life lived within nature. Our values are guided by a longing for the products which nurture and celebrate the craftspeople. Our products are shaped and fashioned with an eye for aesthetics and functionality. And the quality of our craft is imperative for we are promoting Bangladesh to the world, supporting a centuries-old heritage of craft, and upholding a commitment to the artisans and their families.
